Pernil

A family culinary tradition that we make every year is pernil or pork. It is made by my family at Christmas to stuff ourselves till we can’t eat. It is also used the next day or Christmas day as a leftover day where all the family that came to the party comes again to eat and drink and spend more time together.

A Day I Was Very Happy

A time when I was thrilled was when I went to buy my dirt bike. It was December, and I can remember my dad waking my brothers and me up early. He said, “we are going somewhere,” and when I asked him where he would stay silent or say somewhere. We got in the car then started driving for about 30 min in the car my brothers, and I was confused about where we were going. Then, for the next 2 hours in the car, we sat thinking, and when we finally got to the destination, we saw a man with his garage open filled with dirt bikes and RC cars. My dad got out of the car, and then I got out of the car we walked up to a guy I had never seen before. He started talking about one of the dirt bikes, and then I began to get excited. He rolled out a red dirt bike with monster energy stickers on it. My father asked if he could turn it on and test it the guy said “go-ahead” so my dad cranked it up and test rode it in front of the man’s house. Then when he came back he told me to sit on it, I did, and I was super excited. After my father and the man started talking about how much it would cost. Finally, after 5min, they came to an agreement, and my dad handed him money, and we loaded up the dirt bike in the back of our car. We waved goodbye to the man, and he smiled as we headed off back home.

Ode to My Dirt Bike

Pop!

Crackle!

My engine roars awake

As you warm up you grumble

A little twist and a loud grunt

Click and you start to move

Wee, as we rip around

Shock as we pass by people

Exhilaration with a full twist and you roar

Tear as we rip up the dirt

Fear when we see the five-oh

Gone before they pursue

100 word Memoir

One morning in Virginia I woke up before anyone else and yelled
“Wake up, and let’s do something.”
“Shut up and go back to sleep,” they all said I tried to but couldn’t because of my little brother. He was moving around next to me while I was trying to fall asleep, so I slapped him, and he awoke angrily. After, I could feel my hands becoming sweaty as I faked that I was sleeping. Later on, I woke up and told him,
“Let’s go upstairs and make breakfast” he agreed with me, and we went upstairs to make breakfast.

Would You Rather…?

Would you rather go to a concert or to a firework shows?

I would rather go to a concert because I have never been to a concert. Also, I want to go to the Kevin Hart comedy concert. I don’t want to go see fireworks because to me fireworks are only for the fourth of July. Then there also is that around my neighborhood people set off fireworks at random times. It pisses me off because they set them off at 3:00 in the morning while I am sleeping.

what would you choose?
